CLEVELAND, OHIO – February 3, 2011 - Freedom Design Kitchen and Bath will debut an at-home dream kitchen for culinary expert and professional cook, Stefanie Paganini, as part of the Celebrity Designer Rooms at the 2011 Great Big Home & Garden Expo, February 5-13. The French Country kitchen with a modern flair was collaboration between Designer, Bruce Vonderau of Freedom Design and Stefanie Paganini to create an organized kitchen that makes cooking efficient and enjoyable.

Mise en place, a French phrase defined by the Culinary Institute of America as having “everything in place” is a critical concept in professional kitchens and was the foundation for the design and layout of this kitchen. Stefanie’s handpicked dinnerware provided the inspiration for the color palate.

“Stefanie fell in love with the color combination in a dinnerware set and we were able to mirror that with three new painted finish colors from KraftMaid Cabinetry,” said Bruce Vonderau, Designer, Freedom Design. “We chose Mushroom as the primary cabinetry color and used Sage as an accent color. We coordinated the paint color with the Sage finish and used the new Cardinal finish for a punch of color on the island.

“For optimum functionality and organization, we integrated several cabinetry storage solutions to ensure an organized and efficient kitchen for the cook. With budget in mind, we selected two countertop materials; laminate for the back wall for a great look at a lower price point and granite for the island to provide maximum impact.”

Functional storage solutions provide a foundation for organization in any kitchen and these elements were important to Paganini. The kitchen features a wastebasket cabinet in the island next to the prep sink for easy trash disposal. Storage in the cooktop area is optimized for the cook, including a tiered cutlery divider to double storage in the drawer, base multi-storage drawer cabinets for both deep and shallow drawer storage, a chopping block kit for additional chopping space and prep space, a bread drawer and under cabinet shelves next to the cooktop for spice storage.

“Mise en place was our inspiration and Freedom Design brought it to life. Bruce really listened to what I wanted,” said Paganini. “I fell in love with the dinnerware and they designed the kitchen in that wonderful color palate and incorporated beautiful glass cabinetry to display it. I wanted an organized kitchen that makes cooking easy and enjoyable with everything in place and the layout does exactly that. The team at Freedom Design was so open. We had a collaborative process that let us explore a lot of options. The kitchen is a beautiful, open and airy place to cook. I love it.”
